With the topic “Millennial Architects, Is it time to Advertise?”, UAP Regional District A3 under the leadership of Arch. Cecil Cayman-Gamana, hosted Balangkasan last November 19, 2016 at UAP National Headquarters, Quezon City.
Two distinguished architects were invited to serve as resource speakers, namely, Past UAP National President and incumbent Chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture, Arch. Robert S. Sac (representing the pragmatic, moderate side) and Former Member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture and incumbent Chairman of the National Committee on Ethics, Arch. Edilberto F. Florentino, Likha.
The two speakers, both awardees of the PRC Most Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Architecture and helped craft and worked for the passage of Republic Act No. 9266, otherwise known as the Architecture Act of 2004, presented their best opinions and conveyed their ideas on the issues at hand.
At the end of the forum, seven resolutions were approved, notable are as follows: (1) Review and amend the UAP 1979/2006 Code of Ethical Conduct in response to the needs of modern times, (2) Form the Task Force/Technical Working Group (TEG) which will include the sectors-Academe, Design, Construction and Rural architects. This shall be proposed for the December 2016 UAP National Board meeting, (3) UAP needs to post reminders to the general membership immediately, while following for the meantime the 1979/2006 Code of Ethical Conduct, about banning social media/website posts that solicit prospective clients (4) That the supplemental Implemental Rules and Regulations (IRR) be completed and presented during the UAP NATCON43 April 2017.
