UAP Dubai Chapter marks 6th Year Anniversary
UAP Dubai Chapter, one of the outstanding foreign chapters of the United Architects of the Philippines celebrated its 6th Year Founding Anniversary last Friday, August 12, 2016.
In his message posted at the chapter website, Arch. Jaime Tasarra Jr. UAP, Intl Assoc AIA expressed his deep appreciation to his Board of Directors who tirelessly supported him throughout the event.
“I must admit it was a great relief to me that things went so smoothly and the feedback from attendees was very positive. and I’m happy to see all of us together again for this event united, we will continue to uplift our profession and through your participation we will achieves these goals”, said Architect Tasarra.
As new president of UAP Dubai Chapter (FY 2016-2017), Architect Tasarra endeavours “to lead and ensure that the chapter’s objective is pushed through and all ideas, suggestions are taken into consideration, anything, for the betterment of every member.
He also noted that “over the past few years UAP Dubai has faced great challenges and has survived them well. We won numbers of awards and recognition. However, we cannot rest on our laurels, now that we are living in an interdependent and rapidly changing world, a world in which skills and knowledge are constantly evolving and creating new challenges, new standards, and new forms of competition. All of this affects our profession most profoundly.”
“Each UAP Dubai President from Ar Arny Lana,Ar Jeff Sibug to my immediate predecessor, Arch Ronald Salcedo, has been charged with establishing a vision for the Organization and implementing that same vision”, he acknowledged.
It may be recalled that the chapter came into being through the efforts of the architects working in Dubai, many of whom have passed the first Foreign Licensure Examination for Architects (FLEA), headed by Arch. Arny Lana. On April 2010, the petition for the creation of the Dubai chapter, along with the Abu Dhabi Chapter, was approved by then UAP National President Arch. Ana Mangalino-Ling. The New Manila Chapter headed by Arch. Gigi Chua Chiaco sponsored the creation of these new chapters.
UAP Dubai Chapter was awarded with a Meritorious Award for Foreign Based Program.during the 42nd UAP National Convention. According to its website, “the Award is a testament that working abroad is not a hindrance to excel as a Filipino Architects and that our programs are at par with our local counterparts. This recognition will push us more to serve the entire UAP – UAE Dubai membership and provide with better programs for the next coming years.”
Immediate Chapter President of UAP Dubai Chapter, Arch. Ronald Salcedo is the current chairman of the UAP MENA Coordinating Council.
Prior to the anniversary celebration, UAP Secretary General Arch. Renato A. Heray and UAP Regional District Director Arch. Florencio Romario T. Sebastian III, sent greetings thru video to UAP Dubai Chapter.
