UAP Special Committee on Design Build Services created

To address the concerns of architect performing Design-Build Services, UAP National President Architect Guillermo H. Hisancha created a special committee on Design-Build Services which will be chaired by Arch. Donato B. Magcale.

The committee will be guided by STANDARD OF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE (SPP) ON DESIGN-BUILD SERVICES (SPP Document 207). According to SSP Document 207, The building industry and the architectural profession have devised several methods of project delivery with the ultimate goal of handling projects in the shortest possible time, at the lowest possible cost and at an acceptable quality and performance. An Architect with his education, training and expertise qualifies him to take a direct role in the project, from conceptualization to implementation. Design-Build Services simplifies and expedites the process of project delivery while providing creative cost-effective solutions. The Architect renders professional services in the implementation of his design. In Design-Build Services, he assumes the professional responsibility and civil liability for both the design and the construction of the project.

The scope of Design-Building services, according to the guidelines include: Design-Build Services by Administration, and Design-Build Services with Guaranteed Maximum Project Construction Cost

The committee members include Architects Ramon N. Vios, Jr. (UAP Cebu Leon Kilat); Normandy N. Canlas (UAP San Fernando Pampanga); Eva D. Guinto (UAP Nova Central); Amado E. Tandoc, Jr., (UAP Marikina Valley); Rafael Briones Jr. (Vice Chairman; UAP Batangas); Alfred Geoffrey C. Carandang (UAP QC Silangan); and Mafe B. Caidic (UAP New Manila).

Committee chair Architect Magcale and members took their oath of office before National President Architect Hisancha last January 11, 2017 at UAP National Headquarters, Quezon City.
