Past UAP prexy Florentino attends 25th EAROPH World Congress

Kota Kinabalu - Past UAP National President, Arch. Edric Marco C. Florentino attended the recently concluded 25th World Congress of the Eastern Regional Organisation for Planning and Human Settlements (EAROPH). Architect Florentino, the incumbent Vice President of Earoph Executive Committee (EXCO) 2014 – 2016 representing the Philippines, was accompanied by Arch. Carlo Marudo, also an EAROPH EXCO member.


Co-hosted by City of Kota Kinabalu (DBKK), the Conference was held on the 9th and 10th of August 2016 in Le Meridien Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. EAROPH World Congress 2016 endeavoured to examined in the ways cities and regions has and will be planned, built, managed and lives, in creating the balance growth and development with the managing of our natural assets to increase resilience.


The two-day congress focused on inclusion, innovation and leadership from community, civil society, government and academic perspectives. Professionals, academics and community groups with a strong interest in an urban resilience agenda participated in the said conference which provided the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and global specialist, share knowledge and exchange experiences and best practices as well as gain practical knowledge in implementing resilience projects. It also served as a platform to create new contacts and forge relationship, develop partnerships and foster networking opportunities between cities, like-minded organizations and individuals to learn and work together to deliver sustainable solutions.


Both Architects Florentino and Marudo also attended the Eastern Organization for Planning and Human Settlement (EAROPH) Executive Committee and Council Meeting which was held in conjunction with the World Congress.


Philippines is a lifetime member of EAROPH . Last November 2010, the UAP has been bestowed the EAROPH 50th Golden Jubilee Award in recognition of its substantial contribution to the advancement of Planning, Development and Management of Human Settlements in the Philippines. The Award was given in celebration of EAROPH's 50th Anniversary and the 2010 Congress in Adelaine, Australia.
