UAP bare plans for Fiscal Year 2016-2017; NP Guimo seeks support to achieve the 21-point agenda duri

SCOUT RALLOS, QC - The United Architects of the Philippines, the integrated and accredited professional organization of architects under the leadership of its UAP National President Architect Guillermo H. Hisancha laid out projects and programs that will support the corporate thrust for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 “Unity. Accountability. Professional Excellence.


Under the thrust “Unity”, the administration aims to (1) establish unity among all registered and licensed architects and key stakeholders (architectural organizations, academe), (2) create a unity of purpose and sustainable partnerships among allied professionals and (3) collaborate with private and public sectors.


The thrust “Accountability” focuses on Governance, Membership and Organization. Under Governance, the UAP will (1) continuously work on the full implementation of RA 9266 and its IRRs; (2) continuously work on the drafting and passage of the Architectural Code of the Philippines; (3) vigilance of other professional laws adversely affecting the practice of architecture; (4) institute effective governance within the organization pursuant to the UAP Bylaws; (5) institute programs and mechanism on financial transparency and reporting and (6) ensure adherence to corporate governance principles and best practices. Under Membership, the administration intends to (7) increase membership by bringing back to the fold all inactive members; (8) promote the advantages of APEC & ASEAN Architects among UAP members; (9) institute awards and recognition of exemplary performances of members and chapters and (10) involve UAP members from the provinces and abroad to take active role in the national leadership (i.e. committees). The UAP will ensure to implement programs under Organization the following: (11) institutionalize UAP regional offices; (12) embed corporate social responsibility initiatives and activities in all levels of the organization; (13) project that UAP is a respected professional organization, a defender for Filipino Architects and a tower of strength of the architectural profession; and (14) maintain and reinforce the UAP as communications center for all types of data and information needs of members thru use of modern technology.


With the thrust “Professional Excellence”, the leadership aims to (1) provide sufficient amount of CPE seminars and learning modules for the architects’ continuing professional growth; (2) institutionalize and strengthen scholarship grants to qualified members; (3) advertise and campaign for the public understanding and appreciation of the importance of architectural services of the architect; and (4) work for a significant and influential position for architects in various levels of the government.


Architect Hisancha has vowed to build stronger working ties with all stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of these plans and programs for the Fiscal Year. In his speeches during District and Chapter inductions, Architect Hisancha underscored the priority plans and programs he is pushing for and the strategies to undertake and emphasized that “much is needed to be done. What I have outlined are only a small portion of the mission ahead of us. We have almost 365 days to accomplish our goals and objectives, and that period started last July 1. We should strive and will be devoted in accomplishing those goals and objectives for the sake of the architecture profession. Therefore, I encourage our District and Chapter leaders to help us implement the plans and programs we have crafted and developed, and to monitor if these projects were being implemented in your respective locality as you strive for excellence in all aspects of our fundamental thrusts.”
