HISTORICAL LANDMARK UNVEILED
ZAMBOANGA CITY. UAP Zamboanga-Chavacano Chapter just accomplished a notable contribution within its community by building a towering landmark. Said project promotes the profession as it symbolizes strength and stability and also represents rich and diverse culture thru the “vinta sails” of the Muslims and beliefs of Christians in “Holy Trinity.”
The project started through the initiative of Past President, Arch. Rodel Falcasantos (FY2014-2015). His idea to build a landmark appealed to his chaptermates for the design conceptualization. Overwhelmingly, architects even from other countries but once a member of the said chapter, responded by submitting creative designs. Then, it was all evaluated last February 2015 during the Chapter’s GMM. Arch. Jason Agriam’s design was chosen by the body and after that, workshop on development of the design concept followed shortly. Construction commenced after the city mayor approved the proposed landmark to be strategically located at the R.T. Lim Boulevard, where in tourists and locals frequently visit the area. Arch. Ramil Marba, then the incoming Chapter President (FY2015-16), proceeded with the construction of the marker / landmark having support from his generous Chapter.
After months of hardwork, it was finally unveiled and presented to the public last September 4, 2016. Ribbon cutting was lead by the UAP National President, Arch. Guillermo Hisancha, with NEVP Arch. Ma. Nina Arce, SG Arch. Renato Heray, Area D Vice President Area Arch. Ferdinand Dumpa and the rest of the architects. This historical project is definitely an inspiration for the Chapter and organization. After all the goal is not only for themselves but also promotion of profession. (with reports from the Chapter)
