NAGCARLAN SENIOR CITIZENS’ CENTER: a CSR Project of UAP Bayanihang Arkitektura, UAP Cavite Chapter,

MUNICIPALITY OF NAGCARLAN, LAGUNA – After three months of conceptualization, planning, and construction, the 150 square meters - Senior Citizens’ Center was finally turned over to the local government of Nagcarlan last September 19, 2016. It is one of the few towns/cities which has an Alternative Learning System (ALS) program under the Department of Education for the elderly. Last July 2016, the UAP Bayanihang Arkitektura through the initiative of Arch. Renato A. Heray presented the design of the Center which is composed of discussion, sewing and cooking areas - a commitment of the organization to act in solidarity towards promoting the welfare of senior citizens and providing them equal opportunities to ensure that they lead productive and meaningful lives.

In partnership with ABS-CBN, Failon Ngayon, UAP Cavite Chapter, generous sponsors and suppliers, the said CSR project was implemented providing a high quality learning center with modern technology used as wall and roofing system of the structure with proper insulation. Artistic painting works for interior and exterior were executed by volunteer architecture students from Cavite State University.

The 50 senior citizens from Nagcarlan enrolled in the said program will be taught by TESDA Chef and instructors for their cooking and sewing sessions. It is noteworthy to mention that the senior citizens of Nagcarlan were very grateful for being the beneficiary of this project.
