UAP Special Committee created to address resiliency GAPS
In order to identify & address resiliency gaps in architectural & construction field; in design practice, architecture academe, and project & construction management, UAP National President Arch. Guillermo H. Hisancha, FUAP, APEC AR, AA, recently created a special committee named UAP ADDRESSING GAPS TO BUILD RESILIENCY or UAP AGAP.
Composed of Arch. Ramon L. Abiera (UAP Capitol Chapter) as Chairman and Arch. Michael L. Baluarte (UAP Makati chapter) as Vice Chairman, the committee’ proposed initial programs (premised on resilient designs, proper construction management /supervision and proper quality standard materials and specifications) include the following: (a) Establish a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to assist in monitoring the quality of construction materials; (b) establish a partnership with HUDCC to assist in public housing innovative developments; (c) prepare a study and resiliency assessment report for the UAPHQ building and (d) study and identify gaps in the educational curriculum and continuing professional education and assist and link with academic institutions to mainstream resiliency capacity to the profession.
Arch. Abiera, former UAP National Executive Vice President (FY 2000-2001) and Area A VP (FY 1997-1998) was sworn into office last July 20, 2016 during the QC Capitol Chapter Induction.
The committee had a meeting with the Secretary of Department of Trade and Industry Hon. Ramon Lopez for the exploratory talks on how to better monitor the quality of construction materials to build resiliency
